Your article made me sad. I had just booked a week of non-refundable
fun there. :-(
You're a good writer.
Thanks,
Jeff

Mr Friess, Thank you for your review of the Wynn Casino complex
published today in the Sunday Travel section of the Chicago
Tribune. Rather than "begging to differ" with your assessment
of the Wynn casino, my husband and I totally agree with you.
It isn't anything special.
We vacationed in Las Vegas in June, 2005 staying at the Bellagio.
We decided that visiting the Wynn property would be a priorty
for us as we hoped to stay there on our next trip. Trust me,
we will not be staying there on our next trip or any other.
As we walked through the hotel and casino I kept waiting for
"the magic" that doesn't exist. The "Lake of Dreams" was a disappointment
and the Ferrarri dealership a museum not a car dealership.
Our decision to have breakfast at the Terrace Pointe Cafe
was a big mistake. The service was poor, and the restaurant
unclean. (I felt something under my foot and discovered old
french fries from the night before. Also, the table legs are
catch alls for crumbs, none of which had been swept up. After
talking to the restaurant manager, he apologized. He did nothing
to make me happy, (a small discount on the bill perhaps?) nothing.
Thanks for the review.

What does mr friess like? deprecating the hotel because in
his opinion it is too expensive is ludicrous. the cost of the
bellagio was also criticized at the start. the initial reviews,
that count, are in and the people are voting with their pocketbooks.
all mr friess' opinions are moot and worthless.

Enjoyed your Wynn Las Vegas review. We cover the hotel regularly
on our blog, RateVegas.com.
FYI, the cell reception is a known issue that will be corrected
pending contract negotiations.
We noticed the same thing on the several trips we've made
to the hotel.
Cheers,
Hunter

I think you'll find many who agree, but it still brings in
many, many people. We are former Chicagoans who really miss
the Midwest and never miss reading chicagotribune.com. I see
you don't mention any prices, i.e., rooms, meals, etc. We've
walked through the Wynn but that's about it. It's a whole different
world out here - nice place to visit but NOT to live.

I just read your article on the Wynn-Las Vegas and couldn't
agree more. You hit the proverbial nail on the head. I was in
Las Vegas in May after an 18 year absence. My friends and I
were excited to be some of the first to see the Wynn and walked
away very disappointed. We found nothing special and were also
made to feel "out of place". The guests there seemed out of
our league. There is no other hotel on the strip where we felt
that.
After seeing all the other hotels on the strip, I felt as though
it was the Wynn which was out of place. Not to mention that
the dancing waters at the Bellagio and the volcano at the Mirage
were more fun to watch than anything at the Wynn. I was glad
we were only able to afford The Mirage for our stay which will
be the hotel I return to in any future trips to Las Vegas. Thanks
for writing a great article to sum up what I've been trying
to explain to people since I got back.
