Adelson-Wynn feud opens Asian branch
[Hear this show by clicking here]
Sheldon Adelson wishes Steve Wynn well, sort of.
Wynn recently became the latest gaming giant to open a hotel
and casino on Macau, where Adelson has a version of The Venetian.
There's no sugarcoating their feud. Adelson grudgingly welcomed
Wynn to Macau, a Special Administrative Region of China, in
an interview with Newsweek freelancer Steve Friess
of Las Vegas.
"If someone in Macau does bad, it reflects upon us. So I certainly
hope they do well," Adelson said.
"Do I like Steve Wynn? No, I'll tell you that right upfront.
His standard of principles are, uh, somewhat different than
our standard of principles. Do I want the main individual involved
here to be successful? No, because of the way he practices business
and life and interpersonal relationships. I don't think he deserves
it.
"But we want them to be successful because we don't want the
world to say Macau is going down," Adelson said. The interview
can be heard on www.thestrippodcast.com.
