Andrew Lloyd Webber apparently missed the memo on the working
title of his upcoming Las Vegas "Phantom of the Opera" production
at The Venetian.
In an interview from London with local writer-podcaster Steve
Friess, the creator of "Phantom" was caught off guard
when the title -- "Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular" -- came
up in the conversation.
"To be honest, you lose me on that," said Webber. "I didn't
know that. I thought it was to be called 'Andrew Lloyd Webber's
Phantom of the Opera.' ... I'm not being disingenuous. I did
not know that. It's a long way away, and I don't get to see
everything."
The previews run June 12-23, with a June 24 opening. The interview
can be heard on the Internet at www.thestrippodcast.com.
